Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and accessories

What are defibrillators?

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable device that helps restart the heart during a life-threatening emergency. AEDs work by analysing the heart’s rhythm and determining whether a shock is needed to restore a normal heart rhythm. If a shock is required, the AED will instruct the user to deliver it, meaning they can be used by anyone, regardless of medical experience. The ability of AEDs to quickly administer a shock dramatically improves survival rates in cases of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Which AED do you need?

When selecting an AED, it’s important to consider the specific needs of the environment in which it will be used. Some factors to keep in mind include ease of use, portability, and durability. Most AEDs are designed to be user-friendly, with clear prompts and instructions, but some models offer additional features like child settings or enhanced battery life, which may be more suited to certain environments.

You should also consider the size of the area where the AED will be placed, the number of people who may need to use it, and whether the device will need to withstand varying conditions. For example, devices that are compact and lightweight may be best suited for environments where the AED needs to be moved frequently, while those with rugged, weather-resistant features may be better suited for locations exposed to harsh conditions.

Ultimately, the type of AED you need can vary depending on many different factors, so if you’re not completely sure what is right for you, have a chat with our team. We’ll guide you through selecting the ideal solution for your requirements, budget, and environment. Whether you need advice on product compatibility or customised options, we’re happy to assist.

AED Accessories

To ensure your AED is always ready for use, you’ll need to regularly check and maintain certain accessories. Replacement pads and batteries are of course essential to keep your device operational and carry cases and wall cabinets are also helpful for protecting your AED. Regular maintenance and replacing accessories as needed can make all the difference when every second matters.

At Turtle Medical, we offer a variety of AED accessories to keep your device in working condition. From pads and batteries to carry cases, our range ensures that your AED is always ready when you need it most.

Turtle’s Comments The 350P is a great entry level defib where budget is a constraint, but, upgrading to the 500P is a better option for public use The 360P is the Automatic version of the 350P, we prefer semi-auto defibs with CPR feedback like the 500P For the money, the 500P often tops our charts, it is a superb, portable defib with some of the most advanced CPR feedback we’ve seen THE defib we would want using on us if we were lying on the floor! The most advanced defib on the market, yet simple to use by the public, a great life saver A new defib to our market with some excellent clinical trial data to back it up. Really good remote reporting features and a defib we expect to be very popular An entry level defib, ideal for small businesses or those on a tight budget A very popular public access defib, but, more recently superseeded by the new SPR, we’d recommend the newer model The iPAD SPR builds on the popularity of the SP1 and is a good public access defib in the mid-range budget, the CPR feedback is not as advanced as the 500P The G3 was a brilliant defibrillator in its day, however, it is now retired, if you still have a G3 you may wish to consider an update! The G5 is a very good defibrillator with some advanced features. The cost of replacing batteries is the only downside to the G5 The iCPR feedback version of the G5 provides the all important feedback on CPR, with the cost of batteries being the only negative point A long standing popular defibrillator, but, not one we have had too much involvement with. We’ve never had any issues with Zoll products though The AED 3 has a handy video screen to help show how to place pads and conduct good CPR and it has a very loud speaker for noisy environments The HS1 is another long standing defibirllator in the industry, with some defibs looking to the HS1 to copy the design and operation. It is not a defib we sell but we respect its place in the history of defibs The lack of clinical trials and data has always sterred us away from the Mindray defib with some customers being nervous of the Chinese manufacturing The lack of clinical trials has steered us away from Mediana defibs, with only a 5 year warranty there are similar priced alternatives with more features and benefits The lack of clinical trials has steered us away from Mediana defibs, with only a 5 year warranty there are similar priced alternatives with more features and benefits
