Not quite! There are a few cheap accessories that are essential for making the most of your defibrillator’s lifesaving capabilities.
Our Rescue Ready Kits contain:
- Tough-cut shears to cut through clothing and allow quick access to the patient’s chest
- A Prep razor to shave the chest and ensure contact between the pads and skin (this is a very common issue!)
- A disposable medical towel to dry the patient before applying pads
- A resuscitation face shield to prevent infection when performing CPR
- 2 pairs of disposable gloves to avoid cross-contamination
- One yellow biohazard bag for safe disposal of the above
These simple but invaluable tools are an essential part of any defib kit and help ensure its use is effective and safe. In the event of cardiac arrest it is important to act quickly and calmly, having all the tools to hand will help.
It may seem surprising but something as straight-forward as a safety razor can make the difference between saving a patient and sadly losing them.
