It feels almost too perfect to be writing about a charity with “Claus” in the name at Christmas time. However, behind the festive wordplay is a group doing genuinely serious, year-round good in the community. As one of Turtle’s most active customers of 2025, we felt it was only right to pause and share their story.

Originally, Claus for a Cause began as a small, hands-on effort in Evesham. Its aim was simple: help people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. At Christmas, that meant toys and festive meals. Throughout the rest of the year, it meant practical help such as food, furniture and fuel. Over time, the initiative grew. At the centre of it all was founder Kyle Hotchkins, who helped turn neighbourhood action into a registered charity and trusted community organisation.

Claus for a Cause — how Kyle Hotchkins turned Santa’s sleigh into a life-saving community engine

From the outset, the charity’s roots were firmly local. Kyle and a small team began by collecting and distributing essential items to families in need. As demand increased, the work became more structured. As a result, Claus for a Cause now appears on the UK Charity Register and major fundraising platforms. This allows supporters, businesses and volunteers to give openly and confidently. Today, Kyle is listed as Chair on the Charity Commission and continues to lead many of the charity’s seasonal appeals and emergency responses.

What Claus for a Cause does — practical help, delivered quickly

Above all, the charity focuses on immediate, practical support. This includes emergency goods or grants to keep households afloat. It also includes wrapped presents and Christmas meals for families who would otherwise go without. In addition, the charity runs targeted fundraising events that bring communities together while raising vital funds.

Importantly, support is delivered through a blended model. Referrals come from schools, social services and health teams. At the same time, public collection points and volunteers help distribute donations. Because of this approach, help reaches the right people, at the right time.

Kyle Hotchkins — founder, community connector and campaigner

Kyle’s role extends far beyond administration. In practice, he is an organiser, fundraiser and advocate rolled into one. Through local events, partnerships and social media, he has consistently expanded the charity’s reach. For example, he has coordinated large-scale toy drops, secured major donations and championed community safety projects.

On a more personal note, Kyle is known for his energy and enthusiasm. His high-vis road-dancing videos have become something of a trademark. More importantly, they reflect the passion that underpins everything Claus for a Cause does.

Partnership with Turtle Medical — from presents to life-saving kits

Over time, Kyle’s idea of what counts as an “essential” has evolved. While food and warmth remain critical, so too does immediate access to life-saving equipment. On 1 April, Claus for a Cause made its first Daniel Baird bleed-control kit publicly accessible. Since then, progress has been rapid.

In less than a year as a Turtle customer, the charity has purchased over 200 bleed-control kits for community use. To date, 12 of those kits have been used to save 12 lives.

Through its partnership with Turtle Medical, bleed-control kits have been placed where they matter most. Claus for a Cause identifies the need and champions local installation. Meanwhile, Turtle supplies proven kits and cabinet infrastructure designed for public access.

Why this partnership matters

First, time-critical intervention matters.

Severe bleeding is one of the leading causes of preventable death after trauma. When bleed-control kits are publicly accessible — especially near defibrillators or in busy locations — bystanders can act immediately. Turtle’s cabinets and Daniel Baird / PAcT kits are designed for safe, intuitive use during those crucial first minutes.

Second, partnerships multiply impact.

Claus for a Cause brings local knowledge, volunteers and trusted relationships with community venues. Turtle brings compliant kits, durable cabinets and technical expertise. Together, this turns an idea into visible, usable equipment on the wall.

Real impact, seen across the community

As a result, the impact is easy to see. Council notices, community updates and social posts tell the same story. Trauma cabinets appear in town centres. Kits are donated to local groups. Lives are saved. This combination of grassroots action and specialist support ensures that good intentions become real-world outcomes.

Could this be you?

Ultimately, Claus for a Cause shows how a small charity can grow beyond seasonal giving. By combining grassroots organising with the right partnerships, the charity now delivers both social support and life-saving infrastructure. This dual approach — tackling immediate hardship while making public spaces safer — gives the charity its heart and its everyday impact.

Kyle’s story is a reminder that meaningful change doesn’t require complex programmes or huge budgets. Instead, it requires action. Simple, practical steps — such as installing publicly accessible bleed-control kits and raising awareness of their location — can save lives when seconds matter.
