Our technical cabinet ratings explained

Why should you trust Turtle defib cabinets?

10 year warranty

Well firstly, we have a 10 year warranty on the cabinets.  So if they don’t last (they will, we’ve not had to replace a cabinet that has disintegrated yet) then we will replace your cabinet free of charge.  The electricity components within the cabinet have a two year warranty.  So that’s one thing less to worry about!

We also have a number of certified ratings on our cabinets.  The reason for having an official, standardised rating system is so that buyers can be confident in the safety of a product and know that is has been independently tested and certified.

IP66 rating

Turtle cabinets all have an IP66 rating on them.    IP (or “Ingress Protection”) ratings are defined in British standard 60529:1992. They are used to define levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt etc) and moisture.

IP66 rating means the cabinet is rated as “dust tight” – protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water.  So if you live near the sea, our cabinets are the best you can buy.  Or just generally, our cabinets will withstand all the rain the British weather can throw at them.

IK10 rating

An IK rating measures the impact protection of a cabinet.  “The ‘IK’ rating or code is an international standard which standardises and defines the level of resistance of enclosures provided for electronic equipment to mechanical impacts.”*

Our Turtle cabinets are IK10 rated – which means that the electrical equipment inside can withstand a 5 Kg object dropped from 40 cm in height.  This means the cabinets are as secure as they can be against vandalism attempts, or even in a sports facility if a ball hits them with force or something similar.
